The Trinity Wolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Weed, falling 83-44. Trinity was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-25.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taylor Rhein, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Luka Robles, who scored 12 points.
Trinity struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Weed posted 19 assists.
Leading Weed to victory were Jaxon King and Marcus Horton. King dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, while Horton scored 17 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. King is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Pharoah Andrews-Abakah, who scored 11 points.
Trinity's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Weed, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 18-5.
Trinity will head out on the road to square off against the Bulldogs at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Weed, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Etna has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 9.
