Even though the Shepaug Valley Spartans scored an imposing 61 points on Wednesday, the Wamogo Regional Warriors still came out on top. Wamogo Regional took their match against Shepaug Valley 69-61. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Wamogo Regional also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Wamogo Regional got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Turtoro out in front who scored 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Turtoro has scored all season. Patrick Weaving was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Wamogo Regional pushed their record up to 5-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Shepaug Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wamogo Regional won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Thomaston at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th. One thing working in Thomaston's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. As for Shepaug Valley, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Litchfield at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Litchfield is ranked 86th, while Shepaug Valley is ranked 64th).
