It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats can now relate to. They took a 60-44 bruising from the Titans on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Evansville Mater Dei can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 184th, while the Titans are ranked 23rd).
Gibson Southern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nola Ravellette, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and five assists. Gabby Spink was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with six assists and two steals.
Evansville Mater Dei's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Gibson Southern, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 20-4.
Evansville Mater Dei does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gibson Southern will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Evansville Memorial is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.
