Evergreen Christian found their leader in underclassman Camryn Hackney, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. It was the first time this season that Hackney scored 15 or more points. Maddie Wivell was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six assists and three steals.
Despite the defeat, Mountain View Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Taylor Spiewak dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eryn Demko, who scored eight points along with five steals.
Evergreen Christian's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12. As for Mountain View Christian Academy, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-5.
Evergreen Christian will head out on the road to face off against Christ Chapel Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Christ Chapel Academy is coming into the game with five straight wins at home, meaning Evergreen Christian will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. Mountain View Christian Academy will take on Berkeley Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mountain View Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 282nd in Virginia, while Berkeley Springs is ranked 93rd in West Virginia).
