Stockdale has gone 8-2 against Karnes City recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Brahmas will be playing at home against the Badgers at 7:00 p.m.
Stockdale is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Poth just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 27-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates.
Despite the loss, Stockdale had strong showings from Trenton Gordon, who rushed for 81 yards and one touchdown on only five carries, and Coy Gann, who rushed for 99 yards and one TD. Gordon got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 56 yards.
Meanwhile, Karnes City waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They really took it to the Wolves for the full four quarters, racking up a 41-14 win. The result was nothing new for the Badgers, who have now won three games by 27 points or more so far this season.
Stockdale better keep an eye on Israel Soto. He was instrumental in Karnes City's win, rushing for 205 yards and three scores while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Soto has become a key player for the Badgers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Savion Nixon-Thompson, who rushed for 66 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Karnes City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 349 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 183 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.
Stockdale's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Karnes City, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Stockdale has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 289 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Karnes City struggles in that department as they've been averaging 327.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Stockdale was able to grind out a solid win over Karnes City in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 28-21. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Badgers' Syrhian Alaniz, who rushed for 68 yards and one TD on only nine carries, and also caught one score. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Brahmas to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
