The Hawken Hawks lost against the West Geauga Wolverines back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Hawken took a 41-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Geauga. Hawken has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Hawken saw an underclassman step up: Julia Scales dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. That was a full 57.6% of Hawken's points, marking the 12th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Liu, who scored six points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Hawken's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.1 points per game. As for West Geauga, their win ended a 11-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-11.
Hawken's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Gilmour Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 27th. West Geauga on the road again on Friday and play against Cornerstone Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th.
