While Calvary Chapel Academy's victory against Brevard HEAT wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Calvary Chapel Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Brevard HEAT on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Firehawks: they've now won four in a row.
Aiden Bishop was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Michael Galluccio was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Jacob Nere also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Calvary Chapel Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, City of Life Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against First Academy, falling 18-5. One positive for the Warriors, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
City of Life Christian Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Camacho, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Another was Isaiah Cruz, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.
City of Life Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Calvary Chapel Academy, their record now sits at 3-6.
Calvary Chapel Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against City of Life Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calvary Chapel Academy since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
