The Gray's Creek Bears lost against the Seventy-First Falcons back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Gray's Creek took a serious blow against Seventy-First, falling 78-39. Gray's Creek has not had much luck with Seventy-First recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Gray's Creek's loss came despite strong showings from Zeek Reed and Quion Andrews. Reed scored 12 points, while Andrews scored nine points.
Seventy-First's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mylon Campbell led the charge by scoring 14 points. Another player making a difference was Xavier McBryde, who scored ten points.
Gray's Creek bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Seventy-First, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Gray's Creek will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Douglas Byrd at 7:30 p.m. Douglas Byrd comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Seventy-First will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Purnell Swett at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Purnell Swett will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 506th, while Seventy-First is ranked 74th).
