Basketball Recap: Marian's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Marian dropped down to 7-4 on Tuesday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell 52-39 to the BigTyme Prep Academy Bears. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 73-70 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

Despite the loss, Marian still got an impressive performance from Lamonte Butler, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards. Butler is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Tyler Wyles was another key player, putting up eight points.

As for BigTyme Prep Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-1. The 52-point effort marked their lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

BigTyme Prep Academy had a senior duo take command as Zion Ibekwe shot 58% from the field on his way to 19 points and five boards and Eli Hayeems went 5-for-8 to rack up 15 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kamsi Nwosu, who posted four points and eight boards.

Marian will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on St. Francis Episcopal at 5:30 p.m. on December 9. As for BigTyme Prep Academy, they have already played their next matchup, a 79-39 victory against Varsity Opponent on the 26th.
