Mt. View was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 12th to 10th in Coalfield AA. The Golden Knights defeated Fayetteville 19-12 earlier in the week.
Bluefield extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating River View, 49-12. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Beavers.
Wyoming East's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Aaron Griffith threw for 68 and two touchdowns and Christian Hedinger had 60 yards receiving. On the ground Jacob Summe chipped in 158 yards. Jacob Dulcie helped Wyoming East's passing attack out by catching one ball for five yards.
Ty Treadway made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Warriors bested PikeView. The 6-foot-3 senior recorded two fumbles.
Webster County's Jacob Thayer and Hunter Given have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Thayer has thrown for 574 yards this season, while Given, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 13 catches for 247 yards. Summe from Wyoming East leads the league in rushing with 1008 yards.
Two of the top units in Coalfield AA will face off this week when the Highlanders take on Greenbrier West. Webster County's offense has recorded 194 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Cavaliers have permitted only 84 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when WestSide takes on Bluefield. At the moment, the Renegades are in sixth, while Fred Simon's team is in second.
Mingo Central and Tolsia played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Mingo Central eventually emerging with a 22-20 victory.
