If the Swink Lions were riding high off their 48-28 takedown of the Holly Wildcats last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Swink took a 41-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Las Animas. Swink was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Las Animas apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.
Swink's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hunter Wallace, who scored 15 points. Wallace scored a full 42.9% of Swink's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jocelynn James was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Swink's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Las Animas, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Swink will face off against Kim/Branson at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kim/Branson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Las Animas, they will head out on the road to face off against Hoehne at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Hoehne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Saturday.
