Softball Recap: Cape Henry Collegiate Has No Trouble Against Peninsula Catholic

Cape Henry Collegiate won the last time they faced Peninsula Catholic and things went their way on Friday too. The Dolphins blew past the Knights 17-8. The result was nothing new for the Dolphins, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Cape Henry Collegiate got a massive performance out of Payton Devalda, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. What's more, Devalda posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Bernstein, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two doubles.

Cape Henry Collegiate was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Cape Henry Collegiate's victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-2. As for Peninsula Catholic, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-3.

Coming up, Cape Henry Collegiate will challenge Christchurch School at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dolphins are facing the Seahorses at the right time seeing as the Seahorses are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Peninsula Catholic, they will square off against Nansemond-Suffolk Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Saints' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Knights' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
