Even though the Lewis Cass Kings have not done well against the North Miami Warriors recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Lewis Cass took down North Miami 46-31. Given Lewis Cass' advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while North Miami is ranked 223rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Miami's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaiden Hanley, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Hanley is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Laney Musall, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Lewis Cass has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. As for North Miami, their loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lewis Cass on the road again on Monday and play against Taylor at 7:30 p.m. on January 15th. Taylor has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 29. As for North Miami, they will head out on the road to face off against Northfield at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Northfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
