The Pueblo South Colts scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 71-68 victory over Lewis-Palmer. The victory was familiar territory for Pueblo South who now have three in a row.
It was another big night for Maurice Austin, who scored 50 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Pueblo South's points. Another player making a difference was Sergio Salazar, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Despite the loss, Lewis-Palmer still got an impressive performance from Cohen Edmondson, who scored 26 points along with nine rebounds. The match was Edmondson's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Noah Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Pueblo South pushed their record up to 3-1 with that win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Lewis-Palmer, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pueblo South will play host again and welcome Chino, where tip off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Lewis-Palmer will be home for the holidays to greet Green Mountain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Green Mountain's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
