With a playoff game on the line, the Jurupa Hills Spartans rose to the challenge on Friday. They really took it to the Toros for the full four quarters, racking up a 41-14 win at home. The win was familiar territory for Jurupa Hills who now have five in a row.
Jurupa Hills can attribute much of their success to Jordan Pernillo, who rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Another player making a difference was Caleb Ruiz, who threw for 94 yards and three touchdowns.
Jurupa Hills pushed their record up to 9-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.3 points per game. As for Torres, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-4.
Jurupa Hills will face off against Soquel at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Soquel will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak. Torres does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
