The Carmel Padres will head out on the road to take on the Hollister Haybalers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Carmel's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Even though Monterey scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, Carmel still came out on top. Carmel enjoyed a cozy 73-58 win over Monterey. Carmel pushed the score to 61-38 by the end of the third, a deficit Monterey cut but never quite recovered from.
Carmel relied on the efforts of Warren Blut, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, and Jackson Lloyd, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds. Simeon Brown was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five assists and three blocks.
Hollister was handed a 36-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Palma last Wednesday. Hollister had just enough and edged Palma out 55-53. The win was just what Hollister needed coming off of a 68-32 defeat in their prior contest.
Carmel is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season. As for Hollister, their victory bumped their record up to 10-11.
Carmel took their victory against Hollister in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 72-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carmel since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
