The Washington Catholic Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Barr-Reeve, falling 79-24. While losing is never fun, Washington Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 455th, while Barr-Reeve is ranked 70th).
Barr-Reeve got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Braydon Knepp out in front who scored nine points along with six assists and three steals. Knepp is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Jake Pauw was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three blocks.
Washington Catholic bumped their record down to 1-11 with that loss, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Barr-Reeve, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washington Catholic will take on Wood Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Barr-Reeve, they will head out on the road to face off against Loogootee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Loogootee is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
