Booker is 0-9 against Sunray since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Booker Kiowas will be playing at home against the Sunray Bobcats at 6:15 p.m. Booker is out to stop a nine-game streak of losses at home.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Booker, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 39-23 loss to West Texas.
Meanwhile, Sunray lost to Stratford at home by a decisive 51-33 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, Sunray can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 585th, while Stratford is ranked 275th).
Despite their defeat, Sunray saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ariadna De la rosa, who scored 16 points along with nine steals and six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 48.5% of Sunray's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Melanie Burrola, who scored four points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Booker has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Sunray, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-12.
Booker took a serious blow against Sunray when the teams last played on January 5th, falling 55-28. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sunray's Adamariz Mendoza, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Now that Booker knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
