After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mountain Vista, the Westminster Wolves were happy to have found some success on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Denver South with a sharp 72-49 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Westminster also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
It was another big night for Brooke Gomez, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Westminster's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alicia Trujillo, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Denver South saw an underclassman step up: Ka'Niya (KJ) Anderson dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. KeiryaRose Stribling was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Westminster's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Denver South, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-9.
Westminster will head out on the road to take on Hinkley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Westminster is facing Hinkley at the right time seeing as Hinkley is stuck on a 16-game losing streak. As for Denver South, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Rangeview at 6:00 p.m.
