It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Bishop Kelley Comets had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past McAlester with points to spare, taking the game 36-21. The win was familiar territory for Bishop Kelley who now have nine in a row.
Several Buffaloes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Clark, who rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Ethan Watkins was another key contributor, gaining 121 total yards and a touchdown.
Bishop Kelley pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.1 points per game. As for McAlester, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5.
Bishop Kelley will take on Bishop McGuinness at TBD on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (Bishop McGuinness is ranked 24th, while Bishop Kelley is ranked 18th). McAlester does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
