After having lost a blowout in their previous game against West Craven, Nash Central was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Rocky Mount Gryphons with a sharp 14-3 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.
Caleb Cox looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jackson Lynch was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Avery Flowers was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Nash Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
With the win, Nash Central broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 14-9. As for Rocky Mount, they dropped their record down to 7-13 with the defeat, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.
