Mountain View hasn't had much luck against Uintah recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bruins will head out on the road to challenge the Utes at 3:30 p.m. Mountain View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Mountain View came up short against Lone Peak and fell 9-6.
Maisy Odell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Saralynn Hair was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lucy Clark, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, Uintah got the win against Wasatch on Friday by a conclusive 9-3. The Utes haven't had any issues with the Wasps recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Lynlee Hall was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Uintah got a big performance out of Kayla Olson, who scored a run while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave Olson a new career-high. Sophia Pope was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Uintah hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wasatch struck out 12 times.
Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Uintah, their record is now 11-5.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mountain View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .396. However, it's not like Uintah struggles in that department as they've averaged .364. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mountain View couldn't quite get it done against Uintah in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 8-4. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
