Northeast is 1-9 against Northwest since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Northeast Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Northwest Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Northeast was beaten by Clarksville 79-20. While losing is never fun, Northeast can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Clarksville is ranked 27th).
Northeast got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Eliza Brimley and
Krista Brandon, who each put up five points.
Qimara Summers held things down on the boards with eight rebounds.
In what's become a running theme this season, Northwest gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They claimed a resounding 61-31 victory over West Creek on the road. The win was familiar territory for Northwest who now have three in a row.
Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Northwest, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season.
Northeast suffered a grim 58-34 defeat to Northwest in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Northeast avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
