Columbus has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Crisp County Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crisp County took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Columbus, who comes in off a win.
Even though Columbus has not done well against the Bulldogs recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Columbus pulled ahead with a 36-35 photo finish over the Bulldogs. The victory was just what Columbus needed coming off of a 62-42 loss in their prior game.
Columbus got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kartier Ollervidez out in front who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ollervidez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alyna Gilbert, who scored 15 points.
Meanwhile, Crisp County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Peach County, falling 51-16. Crisp County has struggled against the Trojans recently, as their game on Saturday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Columbus' win bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Crisp County, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-20.
Columbus didn't have too much breathing room in their match against the Cougars in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 45-39 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Columbus since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
