The Fort Morgan Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their sixth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 64-31 loss at the hands of Northridge. Fort Morgan has not had much luck with Northridge recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Bella Phillips and Ava Taylor certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Phillips almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Taylor scored no points along with 13 blocks and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Phillips has scored all season.
It was another big night for Sophia Carbajal, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds for Northridge. Carbajal hasn't dropped below nine rebounds for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Rylee Beck, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Fort Morgan dropped their record down to 1-17 with that defeat, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.3 points per game. As for Northridge, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.
Fort Morgan will head out on the road to challenge Riverdale Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Riverdale Ridge will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Fort Morgan surely won't give up without a fight. As for Northridge, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Severance at 7:00 p.m. Northridge is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
