The Plattsburgh Hornets will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Franklin Academy Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Plattsburgh will be strutting in after a win while Franklin Academy will be coming in after a defeat.
Plattsburgh scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 74-49 margin over Saranac. Given Plattsburgh's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Saranac is ranked 563rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Franklin Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 61-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Massena.
Despite the loss, Franklin Academy had strong showings from Garrett Osborn, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds, and Bradley Poupore, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Osborn scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kaden Jarvis, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Plattsburgh and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Franklin Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
Plattsburgh came up short against Franklin Academy when the teams last played back in January, falling 67-63. Thankfully for Plattsburgh, Jace Hammond (who scored 21 points along with six assists and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
