Two dominant backs in Josh Durant and Rhamell Fairclough are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Sheehan Titans will head out on the road to face off against the Branford Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Sheehan had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 42-point drubbing they dealt Lyman Hall on Thursday. The Titans really took it to the Trojans for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-0 victory. The Titans pushed the score to 35-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Trojans had no chance of recovering from.

Jake O'Brien had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 43 yards and a pair of TDs, and also threw for 122 yards and one touchdown while completing 75% of his passes. What's more, he racked up 156.3 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sheehan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 254 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lyman Hall only rushed for eight.
Sheehan's defense stepped up as well, laying out Ryan Casey five times. Richard Van Dyke was especially locked on to Lyman Hall's QB and sacked him four times. Thanks to that big game, Van Dyke is now up to 10.5 sacks on the season.
Meanwhile, Branford won against Bassick back in November with 41 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Hornets beat East Haven by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 41-6. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Yellowjackets: they've now won nine in a row.
Sheehan better keep an eye on Chris McKittrick. He was instrumental in Branford's win, rushing for 53 yards and a pair of scores, while also throwing for 61 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Sheehan's record is now 8-2. As for Branford, their record now sits at 7-3.
Tuesday's contest might be decided on the ground. Sheehan has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 188.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Branford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 177.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Tuesday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Sheehan against Branford in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 47-0 victory. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
