Everything went Sedro-Woolley's way against Adna on Saturday as Sedro-Woolley made off with a 9-2 win. Considering the Cubs have won four games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Nooksack Valley made easy work of Friday Harbor on Saturday and carried off a 16-1 victory. The Pioneers haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Kestyn Wagter and Payton Bartl were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Wagter tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Bartl tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Wagter went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs, while Bartl scored three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Bartl has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other pitching news, Alayna Vanieperen looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Alayna Dykstra was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Shelby Mason was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Nooksack Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .553. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests dating back to last season.
Nooksack Valley's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Sedro-Woolley, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Sedro-Woolley came up short against Nooksack Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, falling 5-2. Can Sedro-Woolley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
