Given Spencer's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Northeast is ranked 507th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Key?shaun Sampton continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gary Gaither, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Northeast still got an impressive performance from Amani Brown, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 assists.
Spencer's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.2 points per game. As for Northeast, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.
Spencer won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Harris County at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. Harris County is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Northeast, they will head out on the road to face off against Jordan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jordan has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 14.
