The Floydada Whirlwinds are taking a road trip to face off against the Muleshoe Mules at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Floydada comes in on three and Muleshoe on four.
On Saturday, Floydada earned a 9-4 win over Fort Stockton.
Madison Pyle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). Pyle was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Jenna Martinez was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Bella Perez, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Floydada was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2025.
Meanwhile, Muleshoe posted their closest victory since April 8, 2025 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Kermit.
The team relied heavily on Melanie Martens, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two doubles. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played.
Floydada's record now sits at 6-3. As for Muleshoe, their record is now 4-1.
Floydada suffered a grim 14-1 defeat to Muleshoe in their previous matchup on Thursday. Can the Whirlwinds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
