Basketball Recap: Kaden Patterson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Combine Academy Global

Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy proved they can win big last Monday (they won by 22) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-59 win over the Combine Academy Global Goats. This was a revenge game for the Eagles: when they faced off against the Goats back in December of 2024, they had to take a 65-34 defeat.

Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaden Patterson out in front who posted 18 points. The matchup was Patterson's 13th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Caulk, who put up 11 points and three steals.

Despite the loss, Combine Academy Global saw an underclassman step up: sophomore John Stokes III dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 boards. Those 17 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Stokes III. Sterling Bohn was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven boards and three steals.

Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-12. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.0 points per game. As for Combine Academy Global, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy and Oak Hill Academy International will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Combine Academy Global, they will venture away from home to square off against Winston Salem Christian Silver at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Winston Salem Christian Silver will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Combine Academy Global surely won't give up without a fight.
