The Sacramento Waldorf Waves will head out on the road to take on the Encina Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sacramento Waldorf has 15 straight victories, Encina has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Sacramento Waldorf beat Foresthill 39-33.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sacramento Waldorf to victory, but perhaps none more so than Liam Aldwinckle, who posted 18 points along with eight boards and three steals. Malachi Miranda was another key player, putting up eight points and 17 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Encina played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Futures 67-37. The Bulldogs were down 65-31 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Sacramento Waldorf will need focus on slowing down Jalani Draper, one of several Encina players who made an impact when they last played. He scored 13 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Uziah Griffin, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards.
Even though they lost, Encina smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.
Sacramento Waldorf pushed their record up to 20-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Encina, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Everything came up roses for Sacramento Waldorf against Encina in their previous matchup on January 7th, as the squad secured a 51-13 victory. In that game, Sacramento Waldorf amassed a halftime lead of 29-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
