Softball Recap: Smithfield Comes Up Short

Smithfield dropped their record down to 6-3 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Chariho Chargers, falling 9-0. The match marked the first time this year in which the Sentinels were not able to get on the board.

As for Chariho, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

For Chariho's part, not much got past Adriana Jeannenot, who gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Smithfield off the board. Jeannenot has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaelyn Comerford, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Maddie Dorgan also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Smithfield is set to face off against their familiar foe Moses Brown at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Chariho will take on rival Prout at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
