Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mt. Eden). They blew past the Tennyson Lancers 77-41 on Thursday. With the Monarchs ahead 40-20 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Several Lancers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew Lorje, who went 5 of 9 en route to 20 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was James Walker, who posted eight points and 12 rebounds.
Mt. Eden pushed their record up to 14-9 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Tennyson, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mt. Eden will head out to challenge Encinal at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tennyson, they are taking a road trip to take on Arroyo at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
