Richard Winn Academy barely beat Wardlaw Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 12-2 victory last Tuesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.
Meanwhile, Jefferson Davis Academy extended their postseason success on Tuesday against Wardlaw Academy. They walked away with an 11-6 win over the Patriots.
Landon Williams made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Payton Payne was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Colson Loadholt, who went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Jefferson Davis Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Jefferson Davis Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Richard Winn Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
