Seneca East is 0-6 against Upper Sandusky since April of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Tigers will challenge the Rams at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Seneca East's victory against Carey wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Blue Devils on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since April 6, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Luella Burkholder, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season. Madi Smith was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Upper Sandusky got the win against Central Catholic on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-4. Considering the Rams have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Aleah McCann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Madison Hart was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Hope Morris, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Upper Sandusky was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Seneca East has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Upper Sandusky, their record now sits at 8-3.
