After a string of five wins, the Mount Academy Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Spackenkill, falling 71-44. Mount Academy has struggled against Spackenkill recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Mount Academy saw an underclassman step up: Bruce Maendel scored 17 points along with six steals. Maendel is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Donovan Baird, who scored six points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Mount Academy's loss dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Spackenkill, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Academy will take on Ellenville at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Mount Academy is on a six-game streak of home wins, Ellenville a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
