The Cienega Bobcats will face off against the Pueblo Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Cienega's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Pueblo has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Cienega's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Buena with a sharp 11-0 win. Considering the Bobcats have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Maya Fimbres made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other pitching news, Kylie Bristol looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
Back at the plate, Micaela Valenzuela was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Sicily Waller, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Cienega always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Pueblo came up short against Sunnyside on Saturday, falling 12-2.
Pueblo saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cerena Valencia, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.
Cienega has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. Pueblo's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
Pueblo's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Cienega has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Pueblo, though, as they've been averaging only 2.9 strikeouts. Will Cienega keep running through batters, or will Pueblo buck the trend?
Cienega took their win against Pueblo in their previous meeting back in March of 2015 by a conclusive 12-0. Does Cienega have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pueblo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
