Northwest has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Damascus Hornets at TBD on Tuesday. Northwest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Damascus is ranked 44th).
Last Friday, Northwest took a serious blow against Quince Orchard, falling 60-22.
Meanwhile, Damascus had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it four last Friday. They breezed by Magruder on the road to the tune of 53-25. Damascus has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 23 points or more this season.
Northwest bumped their record down to 1-7 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Damascus, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Northwest was taken down by Damascus 65-30 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can Northwest avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
