Even though the Harrells Christian Academy Crusaders scored an imposing 60 points on Monday, the E.E. Smith Golden Bulls still came out on top. E.E. Smith secured a 66-60 W over Harrells Christian Academy. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 16 to 6 on the offensive boards, as E.E. Smith did.
E.E. Smith got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Decarlo Brunson out in front who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Asany Richmond was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Harrells Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Dashaun Mckoy dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonio McKoy, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
E.E. Smith's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Harrells Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. E.E. Smith won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Terry Sanford at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Terry Sanford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Saturday. Harrells Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Fayetteville Academy at 6:45 p.m. on January 16th. One thing working in Fayetteville Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
