Mound City/Craig just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Rock Port Blue Jays at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Mound City/Craig is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
On Monday, Mound City/Craig came up short against the Tigers and fell 57-46. While losing is never fun, Mound City/Craig can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 454th, while the Tigers are ranked 160th).
Meanwhile, Rock Port was able to grind out a solid win over the on Friday, taking the game 56-43. The victory was just what Rock Port needed coming off of a 65-43 loss in their prior match.
Rock Port found their leader in underclassman Jack Meyerkorth, who scored 15 points along with six steals and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Brock Holmes, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Mound City/Craig dropped their record down to 5-10 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Rock Port, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
Mound City/Craig came up short against the Blue Jays in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, falling 64-58. Can Mound City/Craig avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
