After flying high against the Madison Dragons on Tuesday, the Plainview Pirates came back down to earth. Plainview ended up on the wrong side of a rough 71-49 walloping at the hands of Laurel-Concord-Coleridge on Friday. Plainview has not had much luck with Laurel-Concord-Coleridge recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Plainview's loss came despite strong showings from Abbie Kromarek and Teya Boyer. Kromarek scored 26 points along with six assists and four steals, while Boyer scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Kromarek scored a full 53.1% of Plainview's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge found their leader in underclassman Rena Rasmussen, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Kaida Eriksen, who scored 17 points along with four steals.
Plainview's loss dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plainview won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Elkhorn Valley at 4:30 p.m. on December 16th. As for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Bloomfield at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th. Bloomfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 198th, while Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is ranked 35th).
