The BASIS Phoenix Firebirds struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Glendale Prep Academy Griffins had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. BASIS Phoenix was dealt a 68-14 defeat at the hands of the Griffins. BASIS Phoenix has not had much luck with the Griffins recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
BASIS Phoenix's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Edward Zhu, who scored four points, and Michael Hervey who scored two points along with five rebounds and two steals. Hervey hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Glendale Prep Academy found their leader in underclassman Talan Sprouse, who scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sprouse has scored all season. Jacob Som was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
BASIS Phoenix's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Glendale Prep Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. BASIS Phoenix's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Hopefully Northland Prep Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Saturday. As for Glendale Prep Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Rancho Solano Prep's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 contests.
