Chavez is a perfect 10-0 against Verdugo Hills since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Eagles will host the Dons at 6:00 p.m.
Kennedy hit Chavez with a five-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Cougars. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Golden Cougars: they've now lost eight in a row.
Jordan Billingsley made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run.
Meanwhile, Verdugo Hills waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Tigers.
Madesyn Meadows made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lauren Brink and Megan Brink did most of the damage at the plate: Lauren went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one triple, while Megan went 4-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most hits Lauren has posted since back in May of 2025.
Verdugo Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Chavez now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Verdugo Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8-1.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Chavez hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Verdugo Hills struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Chavez got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April against Verdugo Hills by a conclusive 15-2 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
