The Lubbock T Titans will look to defend their home field on Saturday against the Fort Worth THESA Riders at 6:00 p.m. Lubbock T will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Lubbock T was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victor by a 45-20 margin over Midland Texas Leadership Charter Academy. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Lubbock T just coasted through the last quarter.
Lubbock T found their leader in underclassman Isaac Kelly, who rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Kelly is on a roll when it comes to solo tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Britt Morris, who gained 44 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Fort Worth THESA pushed their score all the way to 40 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were beaten by East Texas Homeschool Sports 76-40. While losing is never fun, Fort Worth THESA can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 96th, while East Texas Homeschool Sports is ranked 25th).
Although Fort Worth THESA took the loss, they still got scores from Trac Carlson, Jaxson Naumann, and Owen Lamar.
Lubbock T's victory lifted them to 2-6 while Fort Worth THESA's defeat dropped them down to 3-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's game: Lubbock T has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 164 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Fort Worth THESA struggles in that department as they've been even better at 168.6 per game. It's looking like Saturday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Lubbock T didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Fort Worth THESA in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, but they still walked away with a 36-32 victory. Will Lubbock T repeat their success, or does Fort Worth THESA have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
