The Muhlenberg County Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Lyon County Lyons at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Muhlenberg County will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Muhlenberg County came out on top against Hopkins County Central on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Mustangs blew past the Storm 11-1.
Bella McCarraher looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Muhlenberg County got a massive performance out of Abry Carver, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jaycee Noffsinger, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Muhlenberg County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matchups.
Lyon County came out on top against Hickman County on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Lyons walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Falcons. The Lyons haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Lilly Perry spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Audrey Akridge was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs and three doubles. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Addie Guess also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Muhlenberg County's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-12. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Lyon County, their record is now 9-13-1.
Muhlenberg County beat Lyon County 8-5 in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Lyons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
