Basketball Recap: Richmond Takes a Loss

Richmond extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 1-3. They lost 70-44 to the Floyd Central Highlanders. The Red Devils lost against the Highlanders in their previous head to head back in December of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 72-70 score last time.

Despite the loss, Richmond still got an impressive performance from Eli Hubbard, who posted nine points and eight boards. Hubbard is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ty Phillips, who had nine points.

As for Floyd Central, the win got them back to even at 2-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Landon Reed went supernova, shooting 70% from the field on his way to 20 points and eight assists. Those eight assists gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Young, who went 7-for-9 en route to 17 points.

Coming up, Richmond is taking a road trip to take on Marion at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils will need to watch out since the Giants have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Floyd Central, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on New Albany at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Highlanders will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
