Football Recap: Herriman Piles Up the Points Against Bingham

Herriman hadn't done well against Bingham recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Mustangs claimed a resounding 40-0 win over the Miners. Considering the Mustangs have won four contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Tyler Messer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 76 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Herriman also got a significant boost from Felisi Felipe, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 86 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Herriman was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 266 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 250 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Herriman didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Troy Ellermeier and MacRae Parker. Parker also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with ten. Herriman received some extra help from Toa Roberts, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Herriman's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Bingham, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

That matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Messer and BOSTEN FOUNTAINE. Meanwhile, Bingham is set to square off against their familiar foe Riverton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
