Basketball Recap: Elijah Mcilvain Key Part of a Team Effort in Spartans Win

Scholars Guild Academy's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Peachtree Academy Panthers by a score of 65-53. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 76-50 back in December of 2024.

Scholars Guild Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Elijah Mcilvain led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Mcilvain is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Henry Rumble, who went 7 of 15 en route to 21 points and three steals.

Scholars Guild Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Peachtree Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Liam Abraham, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 20 points. The dominant performance gave Abraham a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Baluta, who went 5 of 11 en route to 13 points along with five assists and three steals.

Scholars Guild Academy's record is now 7-10. As for Peachtree Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Scholars Guild Academy will face off against Horizon Christian Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Scholars Guild Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season. As for Peachtree Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Faith Christian Academy on the 29th.
