Sheldon has won three straight games at home, while Ponderosa has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Huskies will welcome the Bruins at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sheldon 2.8, Ponderosa 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Sheldon and Elk Grove have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Huskies came up short against the Thundering Herd, falling 8-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Huskies couldn't push the score so high this time.
Micah Kennedy was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one double.
Ponderosa came out on top against Rio Americano on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run fifth inning. The Bruins were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Raiders. Considering the Bruins have won 12 contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Ponderosa also got a great performance from Lauren Klomp as she struck out 15 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Klomp has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Trinidey Fuss was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Kate McCartney was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Ponderosa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rio Americano only posted an OBP of .118.
Sheldon's loss dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Ponderosa, their win bumped their record up to 24-0.
